Dennis Brunton is the Chief Training Instructor for all canine training programs at Eastway Kennels. He became a professional dog trainer in 1977. He was the Chief Training Instructor for Northwest Kennels in North Vancouver, B.C., from 1980 to 2000. During this time Dennis developed the ‘Companion Concept Program’.
This is an assessment-based program. It takes into consideration many important factors when training your dog. Your dog’s breed, age, behavior around family members, strangers and other dogs, are just a few of the points that are considered. The customer’s concerns and expectations are taken into account. The dog must fit in with your busy family activities. They must not be a bother to neighbors and fit into today’s fast-paced lifestyle.
The need for training has never been more important than the present. If you have some concerns about your canine and are considering professional training, give Dennis a call.
Programs available:
- In-kennel training: Have your dog trained while you are away. Classes with you and your pet(s) can be arranged during or after their stay. These effective training techniques are taught to you, the person that is going to need to communicate with the dog on a daily basis.
- Private classes without boarding your pet: Classes that are one on one, booked by yourself with the trainer. You plan your class around your schedule. Family members can accompany you, so everyone gets informed.
- Sessions at your home: You may feel that it is important for the trainer to come to your home. The family can have the trainer’s undivided attention. All of your concerns can be discussed and this is an opportunity for the trainer to do an environmental assessment. It is a great way for the dog to meet the trainer on home ground and helps develop a positive relationship between the two. Meeting the dog at your home would be advantageous if you were considering in-kennel training later.
- Group classes: These sessions are designed for the pet owner that wants the dog to be around other dogs while learning. Also it encourages puppy and adult dogs and their owners to participate. These classes are only available on a seasonal basis.
